As the government relied on statistics solely for administration in ancient times, statistics were limited in scope. This subject became increasingly popular and its application became more extensive as time went on. Almost no field of human activity is exempt from the use of statistics today. It is now used primarily by economists, businessmen, scientists, and administrative professionals.
