Introduction

Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15 August as a national holiday in India honor the nation’s freedom from the United Kingdom (UK) on 15 August 1947, the day when the terms of the 1947 Indian Independence Act, which shift governmental power to the Indian Constituent Assembly, came into effect.

India keeps hold of King George VI as head of state until its changeover to a full republic, when the nation approve the Constitution of India on 26 January 1950 (celebrated as Indian Republic Day) and change the authority prefix, authority of India, with the performing of the sovereign law Constitution of India. India get independence following the Independence Movement famous for mainly non-violent resistance and civil disobedience.

Independence agrees with the separation of India, in which British India was separated along religious lines into the territory of India and Pakistan; the separation was convoy by violent rebellion and lot of wounded, and the dislocation of nearly 15 million people due to religious brutality.

On 15 August 1947, the 1st Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru lifts up the Indian national flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. On each following Independence Day, the current Prime Minister normally raises the flag and gives an address to the nation. The whole event is transmitted by Doordarshan, India’s national journalist, and usually begins with the shehnai music of Ustad Bismillah Khan.
